On the 33rd and penultimate day of the Campionato Eccellenza Lazio, the gialloblù are preparing for the trip to Fiumicino: Aranova-FC Viterbo will be played on Sunday 28 April.
Just 180 minutes from the final whistle that will decree the end of the championship, the players of Favl Cimini Viterbo find themselves under the orders of the new coach, Mister Francesco Cerci. This change was made necessary following the resignation of the previous coach, Massimo Castagnari, after the surprising draw achieved against W3 Maccarese in last Sunday’s match. The match in fact ended at 3-3, after FC Viterbo, leading 3-0 until the 72nd minute, was restarted by the guests’ comeback. The last point at home confirms FC Viterbo in 8th place in the table.

How were you welcomed by the Mister team?
I was welcomed very well, with great availability and professionalism on the part of the guys. Even though we are only 15 days away from the end of the season, I found the team morale high and the motivation tangible, even though there are only two games left.
What did you say to the team for these last 180 minutes which, in any case, are not fundamental in terms of the championship standings?
I emphasized that I am by their side for every single remaining minute. Being here at this moment is for me recognition for the work done with the Juniores, a sort of reward. Although the situation does not affect the championship standings, it is still a very interesting experience and I am grateful to Favl Cimini Viterbo for giving me this opportunity. For me it represents a real honor.
What did the Club ask you for these last two championship matches?
No specific request was asked of me, I was given complete decision-making freedom. The only indication was to end the season with commitment and professionalism, honoring the shirt.
How do you intend to quickly establish an effective relationship with the players and coaching staff to maximize the team’s immediate performance?
It was a very positive surprise to see that the players and technical staff were available right away. I was favorably impressed by the environment, characterized by people of great value and competence, which facilitated my integration. This climate of openness and collaboration has made it easier to establish effective relationships. I found a highly professional environment and this is an excellent starting point for maximizing the team’s performance in the short term.
Do you already have a lineup idea for the clash with Aranova? Will there be surprises?
I’ve been a football man for a long time, I don’t get to 180 minutes to go and I turn everything upside down. Not even De Zerbi or Guardiola could completely revolutionize a team in such a short time. Mister Castagnari, who I also heard recently, is a master of the category and my idea is to just make some adjustments, maintaining a certain continuity. The priority is to honor the shirt and give your best on the pitch.
