The current bomber is Olivier Giroud who, between the championship, Champions League, Europa League and Italian Cup, scored fourteen goals, followed only two distances away by Christian Pulisic while in third place on the podium we find Rafael Leao, with ten goals.
A trio that should soon be replenished, because behind them are Ruben Loftus-Cheek, with nine goals, and Luka Jovic with one less. If at least one of the two reaches double figures, a statistic will occur that hasn’t come true for fifteen years, the ’08/’09 season: at least four AC Milan players have reached double figures in goals. On that occasion, it was Pato (18), Inzaghi and Kakà (16) and Ronaldinho at 10.
To find five you have to go back even further and go back up to ’82/’83, when Milan won the Serie B championship: Joe Jordan, Aldo Serena, Sergio Battistini, Vinicio Verza and Oscar Damiani. All without having a striker with at least twenty goals in the championship in the squad, something that hasn’t happened since the days of the first Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the last AC Milan player to win the top scorer ranking with 28 goals in the 2011-12 championship. The goals of his main men will be the basis on which Pioli will base the assault on the final rush of the season.
