Is it her or isn’t it? Many people asked this question yesterday in Paris, when Miranda Priestly has appeared at Balenciaga for the Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2024/25 fashion show. Silver quiff, sunglasses with shaded lenses and that unmistakable trench coat ready to throw on the desk of some assistant upon entering the editorial office of Runway: but of course it’s her!

Alexis Stone wore the role of Miranda, which on this occasion was designed by Balenciaga.make up artist, drag queen e tiktoker who had already animated other catwalks in the past with his impeccable disguises.
We had in fact seen him last year at Diesel in the Jennifer Coolidge version first and then as Madonna, but also dressed and made up as Lana Del Rey at the Jean-Paul Gaultier photocall or as Glenn Close, in her unforgettable role as Cruella De Vil, again on the occasion of a Balenciaga show.

To arrive in Paris he couldn’t have chosen a better character and to recreate Miranda Priestly’s iconic look specifically for the fashion show, Stone says through shots and videos on his Instagram, it took about three months of work. A work carried out jointly with Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga, who, being the lover of provocations that he is, certainly didn’t hold back. «Everyone wants to be us» Miranda’s character said in the film, towards the end, right under the Paris sky. And apparently she was right.
