One of many media triumphs came with Chain reaction, a quiz show that has glued millions of Italians in front of the screen. Gianfrotta, with his brilliant direction, was able to make each episode an unmissable event, keeping the tension and fun high. The program has become a cultural phenomenon, with a following of passionate and loyal fans.

The tragic disappearance: the memory of colleagues and friends

Amedeo Gianfrotta died due to complications related to an illness that had afflicted him for some time. Many colleagues and friends expressed their condolences, remembering not only his talent, but also his humanity and collaborative spirit.

The host Marco Liorni, a well-known face of Reazione a Catena, shared his pain for the loss of Gianfrotta. Liorni remembered Gianfrotta as a great professional and a dear friendunderlining the importance of his contribution to the program and to Italian television in general.

His words moved many, because in just a few lines he recounted the affection and respect he had for the late director: “Amedeo Gianfrotta entered your homes discreetly, recounting events in TV studios through his eyes as a scrupulous director and those of his team. Rai, on the other hand, on the RaiNews website, remembers him like this: “Amedeo Gianfrotta leaves us, Rai is in mourning. 59 years old, a wife and two daughters, Amedeo passed away last night due to a sudden illness. On duty at the Cptv Rai in Naples, always smiling, courteous, professional like few others, Gianfrotta was currently directing the programs Reazione a Catena and Agorà weekend. The condolences of the director of the Cptv of Naples and his employees, of the central editor, of the editorial staff and of the organizational and production secretariat of Tgr Campania go to the family”.

Chain Reaction: the transition to Pino Insegno

Marco Liorni began his adventure as host of Reazione a Catena in June 2019, running the quiz show until January 1, 2024. During the first months, until September 2020, the direction was entrusted to Claudia De Toma. Subsequently, Amedeo Gianfrotta took over the role of director, collaborating closely with Liorni until early 2024.

Subsequently, Liorni left the program to host L’Eredità, leaving room for Pino Insegno as the new host of Reazione a Catena.

Until his tragic and unexpected death, Gianfrotta continued to work with Insegno, contributing to the production of the program at the Rai Production Center in Naples.
