“Social housing represents a fundamental resource for the weakest sections of society, guaranteeing them access to dignified and safe housing. This type of initiative not only provides a housing solution, but also contributes to promoting social inclusion, cohesion community and the reduction of inequalities”. Thus the president of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, regarding the signing of the program agreement between the Region and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the implementation of urban regeneration, recovery and redevelopment programs of the social housing stock.

According to Rocca, “Investing in social housing means investing in the well-being and stability of the people and families who benefit from it, thus contributing to building a more equitable and supportive society. The agreement signed with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport represents, Furthermore, a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and sustainable living environment in the Lazio region, improving the quality of life for its citizens and promoting the social and economic development of the region, for which I thank the minister Salvini, aims to provide rapid and decisive solutions to the primary housing needs of families with limited economic resources”.

The funds made available amount to almost 54 million euros, of which 43.9 come from funds from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) and over 10 million from the Region, thanks to savings and unused resources in the past. These resources will be used to finance urban regeneration interventions on public residential buildings, promoting social quality and restoring the urban fabric. Extraordinary maintenance works will be carried out on public buildings and public and private properties currently unused or underused will be recovered. Furthermore, new social housing interventions are planned, through the purchase or construction of new properties, to increase the public and social housing supply. The main objective is to support families with limited economic capabilities who cannot afford either a mortgage or rent.
