In the episode of Afternoon 5 News on Thursday 28th June the topic of the Mascali tragedyin Sicily, where the 41-year-old Antonio Racitiwas fatally stabbed in the throat with a pair of scissors by his neighbor.
The presenter Simona Bracnchetti opened a connection with Fabio, a friend of the victim. “We have discovered that there was something else – said the man -. There were other reasons, there was a girl, the victim’s, who…”. But just at that moment the victim’s girlfriend appeared and started to get agitated because the gentleman was claiming that the woman was disputed.
The woman started talking over Fabio, making him furious. At one point, the man blurted out: “Drink less, try to drink less, drunk!“. Simona Branchetti, clearly embarrassed, tried to restore some order to her broadcast. The presenter immediately proceeded to try to bring calm. But, when she saw the man getting agitated again pointing the finger at the womandecided to close the connection.

“The beauty of live broadcasting”, someone would say. What is certain is that Branchetti’s afternoon was not the best. A surreal episode but it started with the best intentions: to get to the bottom of a tragedy that has shaken an entire community.
