The separation between Paolo Bonolis and Sonia Bruganelli in April 2023 caused quite a stir, although there had been rumors of a crisis for several months. A year later, the host talks about the real reason that led them to say goodbye.

They tried for months to deny the rumors that they were in serious crisis, but in April 2023, Paolo Bonolis and Sonia Bruganelli in an exclusive joint interview given to Vanity Fair, confirmed what many already suspected, that is, their intention to separate. The couple spoke about it calmly, explaining how a relationship of absolute respect existed between them and they had no intention of dividing their professional careers.
The TV host and producer met for the first time in the nineties thanks to the program Tira e quit, when she was still working as an actress and teleshopping presenter. After a rather reserved relationship, they began to show themselves more and more often during public events, and in 2002 they got married. From their love three children were born: Silvia, Davide and Adele. As time passed, Sonia preferred to abandon her career in the spotlight, preferring to dedicate himself behind the scenes of the small screen, founding and managing the SDL companywhich since its creation has been responsible for choosing the protagonists of her husband’s most important television programs.

Spoken on Gianluca Gazzoli’s podcast recently Bonolis gave some more details on the reasons that led him and his ex-wife to separate: “What happened is not the result of work, but of people’s internal changes that must be respected. Paolo then added that he is happy with the life he leads, full thanks not only to the presence of his five children but also his two grandchildren, his friends and the many interests he has in addition to his television career. Bonolis is not only a presenter, but also a writer, with two books under his belt, Why I Spoke Alone and Notte Fonda. No hard feelings, therefore, towards Sonia, who apparently seems to have found a new partner, the master and dancer Angelo Madonia, a well-known face from Dancing with the Stars.
