Monday 1 July at 6pm at the La Feltrinelli bookshop in Genoa, Valentina Bocchino and Simone Farello will present their book “Japan in all senses” (Erga editions): at the same time a sentimental travel diary, a book of instructions and curiosities and an immersion in the many facets of a culture so profoundly different from ours.

We will talk about the places visited, curiosities, society, current events, books, films, TV series, music… Without forgetting to smile!

From Miyazaki to “Lost in translation”, from Murakami to Amelie Nothomb, from “Midnight diner – Tokyo stories” to “Fishbowl wives”, from Sailor Moon to Godzilla and Gundam, from Final Fantasy to Super Mario, from Joe Hisaishi to idols… All passing through an itinerary that leads from Tokyo to Osaka, passing through Kyoto, Kanazawa and other cities.

In conversation with the two writers, Aurora Caneparicurator in charge of the E. Chiossone Oriental Art Museum in Genoa and author of the book’s splendid preface.

Furthermore, Sakura Project will be present with actresses in ancient kimonos… And other surprises!

Japan has fascinated Europe for more than a century and even today a trip to the Land of the Rising Sun is the dream of many people. Of kids who grew up with Japanese cartoons or manga, of art enthusiasts, of scholars of philosophy and oriental culture.

Together with Valentina and Simone the readers will climb the Tokyo Tower, cross the Shibuya intersection, take the Shinkansen, the bullet train to reach the traditional inns of Takayama, the “hands together” houses of Shirakawa-go, the fantastic gardens of Kanazawa with its Kimono Museum and finally the alleys and temples of Kyoto and the thousand lights of Osaka. They will take a tour of the Jinbōchō bookstore district, they will wander among the wonders of the Kyoto Manga Museum, they will discover the secrets of the cleanest and craziest toilets in the world, they will feed the deer of Nara in exchange for a bow, they will try the street food, they will learn how to pray in Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines and they will observe the masterpieces of Samurai calligraphic art. They will travel with books, TV series and music. And they will visit the tomb of Edoardo Chiossone, from Arenzano who brought the art of money to Japan and donated the most important collection of Japanese art in Italy to Genoa.

Furthermore, thanks to the multisensory contents of the Vesepia App, the journey to Japan is conveyed through all the senses: the music of the cities, the colors of a surprising cuisine, the beauty of the gardens, the writings found along the way, the sight of urban landscapes and sensational naturals. With hundreds of photos and videos viewable for free and dozens of multi-sensory contents that will update over time through dynamic Vcodes, to keep the book updated… so that the journey proposed by “Japan in all senses” is always current.
