It was an emotional day for the royal family. Kate Middleton is back in the spotlight for the first time 5 months after announcing her cancer. The princess joined King Charles and Camilla for the annual Trooping the Color ceremony at Buckingham Palace, giving fans their first glimpse of the future queen’s official return. After revealing that chemotherapy will continue for a few months yesterday, Kate was seen chatting, laughing and joking with her in-laws. Many of the sweetest moments were captured on camera, and The Mirror’s lip reader Nicola Hickling was able to understand exactly what members of the royal family were discussing throughout the day. From King Charles’ emotional admission to Kate’s mum moving and Prince Louis’ scathing remark towards Charlotte – let’s look back at some of the key conversations.

Carlo’s emotion

King Charles, who like Kate is being treated for cancer, left Buckingham Palace yesterday morning following the event in a carriage together with Queen Camilla. Doctors have advised the king to conduct the Trooping the Color show from the Ascot Landau carriage, rather than on horseback as he did last year. Charles and Camilla were seen chatting as they took in the magnificent views and the King appears to have made a touching admission to his wife about the celebrations. According to Nicola Hinckley, Charles said to Camilla in the carriage: “Oh dear, I don’t know why I feel like crying.”

Kate and Louis’ rude response

The Princess of Wales, however, who participated in the parade together with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, gave them a series of precise instructions as they watched the military spectacle from a building overlooking the square ‘weapons. “Stay there, okay?” she told the children. And after leaning towards Charlotte, she added: “Keep smiling and stay here for a moment.” The one who made her suffer the most was Louis, the little one in the house, 6 years old, who argued with his sister Charlotte, 9 years old, while she tried to keep him under control. Louis was dancing during the Scots Guards march to Highland Laddie and Charlotte seemed to be telling him, “You’ve got to stop doing that. Watch the parade,” to which Louis replied, “I won’t.” In turn, Charlotte repeated to him: “Do as you are told” and Louis replied: “No.” At one point, during the military show at Horse Guards Parade, Louis started pulling the cords on the shutters while watching Trooping with his mother Kate. And according to the lip reader, he asked mom, “Can I play with these pearls?” However, Kate seemed to answer him: «No. I need you to focus on the save.”
