Alex Meret’s career
The blue goalkeeper debuts in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where he was also born in 1997 in Flambruzzo di Rivignano, taking his first steps in the ASD Rivolto. He subsequently joined Donatello’s youth team, then arrived at Udinese – in the youth sector – at just 15 years old. In the 2015-2016 season he joined the first teambecoming Orestīs Karnezīs’ deputy.
His debut It happens at the age of 18 in an Italian Cup match against Atalanta and then against Lazio. He never plays in the Championship and comes the following season transferred on loan to SPAL, where he begins to show his skills as an extreme defender. In 2018 came the real turning point in his career and he landed at Naples.
His first years in the blue shirt were difficult and different from the present ones. His affirmation is in fact slowed down by several injuries and by the continuous alternation with Ospina, a condition that leads him to be the second goalkeeper under the management by Rino Gattusowho in those years was the coach of the Neapolitan team.
