For four years there has been nothing but talk of the “escape to Los Angeles” of Prince Harry of England and his wife Meghan Markle, responsible for the rift that everyone calls “Megxit”.
It must be said: the British royal family has never been in more difficulty than at the moment. King Charles III struggling with cancer and related treatments, and therefore “half-service” in official commitments. Kate Middleton, wife of Crown Prince William and consequently future queen, completely out of action due to preventive chemotherapy.
Prince William, since Kate’s surgery in January, in which the Princess of Wales’ cancer was discovered, has been making up for everything. The official commitments are all on his shoulders, without being able to count on the support of his wife or father. And Queen Camilla, alone, isn’t going anywhere.
The “Megxit problem” fits into all this. For four years now, the youngest Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have left the palace, choosing warmer California. But above all by choosing to renounce the titles and official commitments for which they were responsible until their stay in England. The cause of the rift, on paper, was the terrible treatment given to Meghan by the British royals, in favor of Kate Middleton who appears to have been the favorite of the Queen and her entire family. But will it really be like this?
Prince Harry and that “diplomatic” problem that afflicts him
Since moving to America to today, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have returned to the United Kingdom very few times. In 2024 he returned only twice: the first in February, on the occasion of his father’s cancer diagnosis, when he spent about thirty minutes in private conversation with King Charles III. And the second recently, for the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games, a sporting event he himself conceived and launched.
Now, however, a big dilemma is created for Prince Harry: best wishes to King Charles III on the occasion of Father’s Day, which in the United Kingdom is celebrated on the third Sunday of June and which will therefore fall on June 16th, one day before ” the king’s birthday” which symbolically falls on June 17th (but Charles’ real date of birth is November 14th). According to royal experts, Harry has the eyes of all public opinion on him, ready to judge if the prince does not decide to fly to London to wish his father a happy birthday.
Prince Harry, according to accredited rumours, had already tried on other occasions to telephone his father, but Queen Camilla would have got involved, ready to protect her husband from any disturbance. Now it remains to be seen whether, against all obstacles, Harry will decide to go to his father for his party.
