Waiting for the release in Italy of Horizon: Part 1 and 2, the Oscar-winning director, actor and producer Kevin Costner has revealed which film he participated in that represents the only great regret of his legendary career.

We’re talking about Wyatt Earpwhich is also one of Kevin Costner’s best-known films: directed by Lawrence Kasdan, the ambitious western tells the story of the legendary gunslinger of the Old West, played by Kevin Costner within a story that covers the real figure’s entire life history, from youth to old age. Kevin Costner’s regret towards Wyatt Earp isn’t so much about the film itselfwhich although it was received coldly upon its release over the years has gradually been re-evaluated, both for the context in which it was released, that of the famous ‘feud’ with Tombstone.

In fact, a few months before Wyatt Earp, Tombstone had arrived at the cinema with Kurt Russell, which told the story of the same character with a much more action and less romantic tone, which instead would have been the fulcrum of the film with Kevin Costner. Speaking of that situation, the star recalled: “I love Wyatt, I just love him. Unfortunately we entered into competition with Tombstone. A good friend at the time advised me to postpone the release of our film, not to conflict, but I was the one who decided to go straight our way. It was a sort of space race between the two productions to reach cinemas first, and they won. I have always regretted this strange competition between the two films: I consider Tombstone a very fun work, but it’s a real shame that it went the way it did.
