Paola Catella, who is Giobbe Covatta’s wife

They have known each other for almost 50 years, united by love and writing. Giobbe Covatta is married to Paola Catellaa Florentine woman with whom she created an artistic partnership that has given us many pearls (just think of the book Word of Job of 1991, just to cite an example). Writer, author for theater and television and screenwriter, Paola Catella is a very talented and inventive woman who has won the heart of one of the most beloved Italian actors and playwrights of all time.

Paola Catella and Giobbe Covatta, the first meeting

Paola Catella, a very reserved woman and dedicated to her work, is not one for social media and big proclamations. In one of the rare shots shared on Instagram (by her husband), Giobbe Covatta shows the couple in all their splendor, with a special dedication: “The first time I saw you, in 1977, I told you: ‘One day I will marry you, we will have a daughter we will call Olivia and a dog we will call Isolde. I only got one thing wrong, the dog’s name is Chloe. Today marks twenty years of marriage,” the actor wrote.

From this post an important clue: Paola Catella and Giobbe Covatta met for the first time in 1977 when, very young, they worked in the same one tourist village in Greece. The writer herself told it in an interview with Book eater: “We met way back in 1977, we were about twenty years old and we met in a tourist village in Greece where we were already working together as sailing instructors. And from there our paths have always continued together: for years we were animators together, he became better and better on stage and I set up an animation agency. I sent the kids who left the courses to the various tourist villages,” he explained on that occasion.

A human and artistic partnership

That initial collaboration stopped for a while, until a new meeting that soon turned into something more. Paola Catella experienced Giobbe Covatta’s debut on the theater stage while she, graduated in Philosophy, was beginning to take her first steps as a television writer. Two apparently discordant worlds but which, in reality, allowed him to find a meeting point, giving life to an artistic, as well as human, partnership which has generated many fruits.

“In 1991 we wrote together Word of Job: one million four hundred thousand copies sold! And from there the partnership continued: 7 books Sapiens woman including, 7-8 theater shows, 1 daughter… The latter, however, was not born by design, but in a much more fun way”, explained Covatta with his usual humour. Finally, together they made the book Celestine And The moved traveller co-written with Paola Catella and illustrated by the actor himself.

The extended family with Olivia and Nicolò and the wedding

From the great love between Paola Catella and Giobbe Covatta in 1997 a daughter named Olivia was born. “I’m jealous, actually. I’m not jealous, it’s all a show: they always say that dads are jealous, I didn’t want to disappoint expectations”, the actor said in an interview with Caterina Balivo on his relationship with her daughter who, between other, he collaborated with his father on some projects like the movie All Human Rights for All. The one with the writer, however, is a splendid extended family of which Nicolò, born from a previous relationship, has always been part.

A few years later, on May 17, 2003, after ten years of engagement couple has decided to get married, with a ceremony that both will always carry in their hearts officiated by the unforgettable Maurizio Costanzo, with whom Covatta has always had a special bond. Right in the studios of Maurizio Costanzo Show the friendship was consolidated with another face of entertainment, Enzo Iacchetti, who Covatta chose as his wedding witness.
