Prince Harry was in London for three days: he landed on Wednesday to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, the Olympics for war veterans. As with all of his trips to the UK since moving to the US in 2020, his visit sparked renewed speculation about a reconciliation with the family, but the Duke of Sussex has not met his father, the King Charles. The sovereign, according to what was leaked and reported by the British tabloids, had a full agenda and was “too busy” to meet his 39-year-old son.

Well, the Sun lets it be known that among King Charles’ urgent commitments there was a meeting with David Beckham, football legend, to talk about philanthropic activities that the English super-celebrity is carrying out with his wife Victoria. The tabloid points out how Beckham in the past, when Harry and Meghan Markle attacked Charles, William and Kate head-on, took the side of Buckingham Palace. And his place in the royal agenda, therefore, was not canceled in favor of the rebellious son who was “snubbed”.

Harry, for his part, is in Africa where, among other things, he played “sitting volleyball” with veterans of the Nigerian army, most of them wounded in the war against the country’s Islamic insurgency. During a three-day visit to Nigeria to promote its Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex and wife Meghan visited a school for an event on mental health. In an officers’ mess in Abuja, Harry’s yellow-clad team played against a team led by Nigeria’s chief of defense staff, the country’s top commander. ‘Team Harry’ lost 25-21 to the commander’s team, Team CDS. In the Duke’s team was former Nigerian soldier Peacemaker Azuegbulam, who lost a leg in combat in the north-east, and became the first African to win gold at the Invictus Games in Germany last year. Harry founded Invictus in 2014. The games have since grown, promoting rehabilitation through sport. Yesterday he traveled without his wife to Kaduna, in north-west Nigeria, to visit a military hospital and speak to troops wounded in combat. Tomorrow the couple will travel to Lagos, the economic capital of the country, to watch a basketball match and participate in a fundraiser.
