Ecobonus Retrofit: application from 1 July for incentives on LPG and methane systems

The Ministry of Business and Made in Italy announced the date for the start of reservations to win the resources allocated for the new one Ecobonus Retrofit.

Starting from 10.00 am on Monday 1st Julycitizens will be able to apply for the contributions provided for the purchase and installation of power systems a LPG or methane.

The installationsequipped with specific approval codes carried out pursuant to Italian legislation or pursuant to UN Regulation no. 115, must be installed on M1 category vehicles (vehicles for the transport of people, with at least 4 wheels and a maximum of 8 seats, in addition to the driver’s) with environmental class at least 4 euros.

The benefit, provided for by the Prime Ministerial Decree of 20 May which regulates theeco bonus 2024is governed by the directorial decree of June 3.

The resources allocated amount to almost 10 million euros and 60 percent are reserved for contributions for the installation of methane systems and the remaining 40 percent for those for LPG.

Specifically, interested citizens can receive a fixed contribution equal to:

400 euros for LPG;
800 euros for methane.

Contributions are recognized for installations carried out from 25 May (date of entry into force of the Ecobonus Prime Ministerial Decree) to 31 December 2024.

Ecobonus Retrofit: requirements and how to apply

From the July 1sttherefore, it is possible to apply for the incentives provided by theEcobonus Retrofit.

What are the requirements necessary to benefit from the bonuses? As required by the decree implementing the measure, in order to receive the contributions it is necessary to respect the following conditions:

that, on the date of installation, the vehicle is not approved as powered by LPG/methane/dual fuel;
that the fuel system installed is brand new and complete with all its components;
that the invoice certifying purchase and installation of the system (issued after 25 May 2024) indicates the amount of the discount applied due to the state contribution.

As for the car and motorbike Ecobonus, the contribution is paid to the beneficiary directly by the installer of the methane/LPG system through a discount on the total price.

The companies that build or import the systems then reimburse the installer for the amount of the contribution and recover this cost in the form of tax credit to be used as compensation.

Applicants, therefore, must book the contributions directly to them Installers of the plants registered in the specific computer system.

They proceed todata entry relating to the car to be transformed, indicating the vehicle license plate and the purchase order of the system, including the indication of the amount paid as a deposit if any.

Depending on the availability of resources you will receive a booking registration receipt. Within 120 days from the booking, the installers confirm the operation.

The benefit cannot be requested on vehicles already subsidized with the contributions ofEcobonus 2022 or 2024.
