Permanent hiring, with 90 positions available and over 17 thousand applications received. It’s the program.”Masters of the Sea” Of Fincantieri, a project that the company has implemented in recent months with the aim of combating the shortage of specialized labor on construction sites. A program which, as reported by CEO Pierroberto Folgiero, has attracted the interest of thousands of people who, seeing the opportunity to come and work for the giant, have sent their applications with the hope of being taken into consideration. But what does it consist of and what is Fincantieri’s offer.

Masters of the Sea programme, Fincantieri’s plan

The starting scenario is that of the increasingly frequent problem of the lack of specialized manpower. If in Greece we talk about a long working week, in Italy Fincantieri wants to be less drastic and find an adequate solution to the situation. For this reason the company decided to start a program that offers paid training, direct hiring on construction sites and solutions for digitalisation and automation.

Result? Come on 90 seats available, all with a permanent contract, over 17 thousand applications were received. The project, in fact, has the objective of search, train and hire workers shipbuilding workers, drawing both from schools and from pools of currently unoccupied resources present on the national territory

According to what was communicated by Fincantieri, the plan provides for a paid training course, with training allowances of 1,000 euros per month and an investment in digital, automation and robotics skills that can contribute to and accelerate the digitalisation process of construction sites. The project also includes a residential training model with a transversal program of an experiential nature for the development of organizational and relational skills such as teamwork and orientation towards achieving objectives. But more importantly, thehiring indefinitely will not be on behalf of supply chains, but directly to Fincantierialready during the training course.

The positions available, in fact, will be on construction sites in Northern, Central and Southern Italy, with transfer benefits, even after hiring, for people coming from regions other than that of the place of work.

The results of the program and the satisfaction of the CEO

A project that seems to have been particularly popular, both in its promises and its premises. In fact, as mentioned, over 17 thousand applications have arrived and the first training courses have already been started, with the hope of being able to start hiring as early as summer 2024.

In fact, the first courses for “Dimensional control workers” and “Naval plant management workers” began in February. For these figures 30 resources will be selected, coming from all over Italy, but that’s not all. In fact, four further courses have already been planned for the next few months, aimed at also training “Naval Operators” and “Crane Operators/Slingers”, which will lead to the inclusion of the first 90 people.

And Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri which recently registered the capital increase, said he was satisfied with the success of the “Masters of the Sea” programme: “It means that if you offer good and well-paid work, workers can be found”.
