There are two different visions that can be carried forward on themes environmental when we address citizens in general but specifically the business world. One is to incentivize virtuous behavior, that is, to put in place incentives for those companies, for those small and medium-sized enterprises that decide independently to carry out certain improvements in energy performance and beyond. On the other hand, however, there is a European Union style approach in the last legislature, i.e a dirigiste approachbased on obligations, on stringent bureaucratic rules.
The news of a hypothetical is coming out in these hours new green identity card which must be adopted by small and medium-sized enterprises according to sustainability criteria. Companies that do not respect the criteria of this “green identity card” will also have difficulty obtaining, for example, bank financing with all the consequences of the case.

What is the risk of measures of this kind? They are not taken into consideration the consequences that they can then have on the entrepreneurial fabric. I’ll give a very concrete example: let’s assume that a small company that employs 15-20 employees, a company that perhaps operates in a sector in which there are difficulties due to globalization, changes in certain supply chains or inflation. This company, which somehow manages to move forward, risks closing if forced to meet certain “green” criteria to obtain financing from a credit institution. If the entrepreneur does not have the possibilities and capabilities to be able to carry out these green interventions, it is clear that the company will then go into crisis and therefore risk closing.
This is why we need to carry on a more liberal environmental approach from this point of view, avoiding imposing stringent rules and avoiding branding such as the “green identity card”.
