The President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella is in Maranello to inaugurate the e-building, the plant where cars with combustion engines, hybrids and Ferrari’s first electric model will be created. He was welcomed by President John Elkann, Vice President Piero Ferrari and CEO Benedetto Vigna. Long applause from the employees present wearing the red Ferrari overalls. Also present were the mayors of Maranello and the neighboring towns, as well as the vice-president of the Region. Mattarella was given a lamp made with waste pieces from the Cavallino Rosso car engines, a unique piece made by the workers.
“We are excited and happy, honored to have President Mattarella with us for the inauguration of the e-building, a plant that combines the centrality of the person in the workplace with respect for the environment. We are imagining the future of Ferrari by focusing on people, innovation and respect for the environment,” said Elkann. “Investing in our territory is essential to prepare ourselves with confidence for the future of Ferrari, confirming our commitment to Italian excellence and to our country.”
“We have invested 200 million euros in e-building in Maranello”. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said this at the inauguration of the new production plant. “We had the funds, we did not use the proceeds of the recently launched 500 million bond”, adds financial director Antonio Picca Piccon. In e-building, the Purosangue and the Sf90 Stradale will be produced from next year, the first electric car from 2026 which will be presented at the end of 2025. “We don’t want to increase production capacity, but to have more flexibility to make customizations for customers”, Vigna explained. “This new building is the last step in a series of actions to reduce our CO2 emissions. In fact, following a scientific and holistic approach, we looked at the efficiency of energy, materials and transformation processes. We obtained a 16% reduction in our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2023 compared to 2021.” The Ferrari e-building will host the production and development of internal combustion engines, hybrid engines and new electric motors, each capable of guaranteeing the driving emotions typical of Ferrari.
The new building, which required two years of work, has a total surface area of 42,500 square meters and 25 meters in height. 300 people work there

“On the energy front – explained Vigna – we have installed more than 9,000 solar panels, we have adopted new technologies such as the hydrogen fuel cell and we have made greater use of renewable energy, reducing the cubic meters of gas we use. By the beginning By 2025 we will turn off our trigenerator and no longer burn gas to produce electricity, heating and cooling. From a material point of view we have found a smart way to reduce our aluminum consumption by almost 250 tons every year.

Furthermore, I would like to highlight that the team successfully demonstrated the reliability of an engine created using recycled aluminium, further proof that sustainability drives innovation and removes old prejudices.
These are not just words. These are all very tangible actions that we have implemented, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by the end of this decade.” “Ferrari is hiring.” The CEO of the Maranello company said this. In the first half of the year, 250 young people joined the company. Over the last ten years, employees have grown by around 75%, and in the last six by 30%.
“The e-building is concrete proof that at Ferrari we keep our promises. On 16 June 2022 we announced our plans for this new building during our Capital Markets Day. Now, just two years later – almost today – we are actually here”. This was underlined by John Elkann, president of Ferrari, at the inauguration of the e-building in Maranello
“E-building is yet another milestone in our incredible journey that began in 1929, when we started racing with Scuderia Ferrari. 2029 will mark the century of Scuderia Ferrari. Technology and innovation have always been in our DNA. They are key elements that fuel our incessant desire to progress” underlined Elkann.
“The architect of our new e-building is an Italian: Mario Cucinella. We chose Cucinella and his team because his projects have a truly human-centered approach, a typical innate Italian style, and he demonstrates a genuine interest in the environmental impact of his buildings. Congratulations are in order, because just yesterday Mario won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award for his achievements”.
