here’s where they move from and the most popular destinations (not just for taxes)

In 2022 there were 88 thousand millionaires in the world who decided to migrate – with their assets – to another country. In 2023, around 120 thousand were counted, setting a record. In 2024, it is estimated, they could surpass it, reaching 128 thousand emigrant millionaires. This is what emerges from the annual analysis by Henley & Partners, a consultancy company focused on investment migration. «In many respects, this migration is a leading indicator – explains Dominic Volek, head of the private clients group at Henley & Partners, in the published report -. It signals a profound shift in the global landscape and in the tectonic plates of wealth and power, with far-reaching implications for the future trajectory of the nations they leave behind or those that become their new home.”
Australia seems to have returned among the first destinations chosen by the rich, while the country most abandoned by the rich – surpassing Russia, which held the record since the outbreak of the war with Ukraine – is China, with 15,200 people expected to migrate in 2024, followed by the United Kingdom with 9,500.
But let’s see, in detail, which countries are abandoned, the destinations reached by millionaires around the world and the reasons that push them to such transfers.
