A decidedly rough landing that experienced by around 350 people on board a Lufthansa Airlines scheduled flight captured in a video that went viral on social media in recent days. As seen in the video, the heavy specimen of Boeing 747 literally bounced twice on the runway during landing at Los Angeles airport, in the USA, before aborting the attempt and regaining altitude for a second pass over the airport
The sequence took place last Tuesday, April 23, and was immortalized by chance by a YouTube channel specialized in live footage of aircraft landings and departures, Airlines Videos Live. The video shows the plane Lufthansa Boeing 747-8 which appears to be in a normal landing phase at Los Angeles International Airport before the wheels of the landing gear hit the ground, literally bouncing the aircraft.
In the clip you can see the plane approaching the runway and then a cloud of smoke emerging from under the landing gear and the aircraft bouncing, immediately touching the ground again before rising back into flight. A typical example of what is defined as a touch and go and which however was absolutely unexpected given that the conditions on the track were good.

The plane finally made a new turn over the airportor landing safely on the second try.
Lufthansa said the plane had a “hard landing” but he subsequently returned to Frankfurt after an “assessment by the cockpit crew, a consultation with the technical department on site and in Frankfurt and an initial visual inspection”. The aircraft finally underwent further inspection in Frankfurt.
