Sanremo. Last night, Fulvio Fellegara, mayoral candidate of the progressive coalition, participated in the screening of the docufilm “Food for Profit” together with a delegation from our coalition. «The film, proposed by ENPA and LAV, illuminated the cruel reality of intensive farming, provoking profound reflections among the public present. The rich debate that followed further enriched the discussion on these crucial issues.

The first topic addressed concerns the mistreatment of animals and their commodification in European and Italian intensive farming. This is an extremely important issue that requires serious reflection and the adoption of concrete measures. It is unacceptable that too many of Europe’s billions of euros are allocated to intensive farming, which not only mistreats animals, but also pollutes the environment and poses a danger to future pandemics. In our electoral program we have foreseen the establishment of the Animal Rights Office, UDA, the first concrete step for the protection of the rights of all species on the municipal territory.

The second topic debated is the strong influence of large interest groups on politics. It is worrying to observe how certain economic interests can influence political decisions, putting at risk fundamental values such as public health and animal welfare.

Furthermore, it is essential to consider the regional dynamics currently underway. This is not just a question of legal legitimacy, but of ethics and politics. The issue of entrepreneurs receiving funding from the political class, regardless of the judgment of magistrates, raises serious questions about the system. Personally, I think this is not acceptable.

Consistent with this belief, our electoral campaign is based on principles of transparency and integrity. We do not avail ourselves of exaggerated figures or generous funding from anyone. As a candidate for mayor, I undertake to be free from external influences and to work exclusively in the interests of the citizens of Sanremo.”
