The board of directors of Tesla will ask the shareholders’ meeting on 13 June to ratify the $56 billion compensation package awarded in 2018 to Elon Musk, founder and CEO of the company. Last January the bonus was canceled by a judge of Delawareafter opposition from many shareholders due to a process not very transparent conditioned by Musk himself. The entrepreneur had already complained about the judicial decision and the company has announced that it will request the transfer of its registered office from Delaware to Texas.
The issue has raised quite a bit of controversy, given that just last Monday Tesla decided to lay off 14 thousand employeescutting of 10% of its workforce: the 56 billion intended for Musk would be enough to pay all their salaries and settle the company’s accounts.
