MODENA – The President of the Volleyball League Massimo Righi, in the last appointment of After Hours – The Super League at nightthe talk hosted by Andrea Zorzi and Andrea Brogioni, outlined the season, talking about some aspects of the Serie A championships.
ON THE FANS – “A Final with two incredible fans. The Perugia team didn’t stop singing for a second, the Monza fans cheered on their boys with fantastic chants, side by side without any problem. They are our values that we defend and guard jealously, but which we should also have the ability to make known to others. We are the only sport that can afford this type of thing and we should never stop talking about it. It is important to make people understand how our public experiences volleyball, with great serenity, having fun and celebrating. Perugia is still celebrating on the Monza pitch an hour before the end of the match and nothing happens.”
ALTERNATION – “Our movement is alive, as demonstrated by four finalists in the last two championships. It doesn’t happen in all sports, on the contrary. Just as there will be alternation in the teams qualified for the Champions League. It means that there is enormous strength in our movement, which starts from seven-eight teams of the same level who can aspire to the same goals. Then we can discuss the opportunity to play the 3rd place and 5th place finals instead of rewarding the Regular Season, but the reality is a championship in which there are seven-eight teams more or less on the same level.”
GROTTAZZOLINA – “We have this beautiful tale to tell, about a small town with a sports hall that can theoretically accommodate 70% of the population. A beautiful story. We’ll see where they go to play, the current building is too small, but their desire is to participate in the Super League.”
THE FUTURE – “More than the geography of the Super League, I like to talk about the quality of the clubs. I wouldn’t mind having a Super League with 14 or 16 teams, but the problem is the calendars. We are working to have many strong clubs, so as to have two SuperLega groups of 8 or 10 teams in three-four years, because I am convinced that the organizational and technical quality of our clubs allows us to support so many teams with so many players. We have a very lively movement in technical terms, coaches, human and financial resources.”
