JESI – This morning Amazon illustrated the progress of the work on the new Italian distribution center in Jesi, in the province of Ancona. The company also announced that the site, the eleventh of this type in Italy, it will be operational starting from 2025. With a investment of 180 million eurosit is expected that the center will create 1,000 permanent jobs within three years of opening, which will be added to the 6,500 already created in Central-Southern Italy and the 18,000 across the country. The building will be equipped with advanced Amazon Robotics technology, which brings shelves containing products that can be ordered by customers to workstations, supporting employees in carrying out their tasks.

Speakers at the presentation that took place this morning at the site were Lorenzo Barbo, CEO of Amazon Italia Logistics, Galeazzo Bignami, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Francesco Acquaroli, President of the Marche Region, Massimo Stronati, President of Interporto Marche SpA, Lorenzo Fiordelmondo, mayor of Jesi, Daniele Carnevali, President of the Province of Ancona and Gino Sabatini, President of the Marche Chamber of Commerce. Participants then took a tour of an accessible area within the construction site and got a preview of the plant’s future layout.

«Jobs of the new distribution center proceed according to the estimated timescales. The site will not only be a storage and distribution point for our products, but also a center of excellence where we will promote innovation and the adoption of the latest technologies in the logistics sector for the well-being and safety of our employees. The investment of 180 million euros in the new structure confirms that Italy is a strategic market for Amazon’s growth plans in Europe. Thanks to fruitful collaboration with the Marche Regionwhich we have been carrying out since 2021, we will create over 1,000 jobs in three years and we will strengthen our Italian logistics network to continue serving our customers in the best possible way”, commented Lorenzo Barbo, CEO of Amazon Italia Logistica.

«It is interesting to see how this building has grown over time so quickly and functionally. The work done so far has certainly been important, but the work still to be done will be crucial to ensuring that this investment is as productive and sustainable as possible. Amazon represents an opportunity for this area to enter international markets while supporting our local economy. This is a very important opportunity in terms of employment, development and prospects, for this reason I would like to thank Amazon again for choosing our territory”, declared Francesco Acquaroli, President of the Marche Region.

«When we signed it was an important moment for the whole region. In this period Interporto has changed its face and Amazon has certainly represented an important driving force. The structure is trying to be attractive and provide answers. There are investors and companies who are interested in coming here, who ask for space, who ask for offices and this is of great importance for us. Only through the union and collaboration of all the actors involved and through careful and efficient management of the supply chain will it be possible to make the most of this great opportunity. Efficient intermodality is essential, regardless of Amazon, the large infrastructures must all function at their best” are the words of Massimo Stronati, President of Interporto Marche SpA.

«The investment of Amazon brings significant innovation to our industrial fabric and also represents a source of valuable job opportunities for the citizens of our community. The opening of this logistics center also demonstrates investor confidence in our city as an important place for business development and new employment. In addition to the employment figure, Amazon will be a presence that must immediately stimulate the overall capacity of our territory to adhere to a just and necessary environmental transition”, commented Lorenzo Fiordelmondo, mayor of Jesi.

«It is clear that this new hub represents an opportunity for the territory – was the analysis of Daniele Carnevali, President of the Province of Ancona – many opportunities in reality, not just one. Only a year ago there was the groundbreaking ceremony and today we find ourselves here on an almost built-up site. This makes me reflect on Amazon’s efficiency, a characteristic that distinguishes it. The speed with which this new hub was built is further proof of this. We have found great willingness to discuss and this makes us positive in being able to continue to face the challenges that this new establishment will bring to our territory in a constant and open dialogue with the company.”

«Amazon is a added value for all small and medium-sized businesses and for all those activities that do not have the possibility of riding the large markets. Thanks to Amazon, our companies can reach the whole world by selling their products online. I would like to thank all the interlocutors who worked to obtain the result we are witnessing today. Many companies are working for the Marche economy and I am sure that Amazon will be able to provide important numbers for those who live in our territories and for the entire regional economy”, finally declared Gino Sabatini, President of the Marche Chamber of Commerce.
