Car thefts, here are some numbers

In 2023, car thefts in Italy increased compared to 2022 and, this year, the same can be said to be happening. The most affected models are SUVs, which make up 53% of stolen cars. Furthermore, the majority of thefts of this type are concentrated in four regions: 33% occur in Campania, 24% in Lazio, 20% in Puglia and 14% in Lombardy.

The analysis was conducted by the Lojack observatory, a leading company in radio frequency anti-theft systems, and also revealed which are the most popular models by far from car thieves – here they are all, be careful if you have such a car.

Fiat Panda but not only

The most stolen models in Italy are the Fiat Panda, the Fiat 500, the Citroen C3, the Lancia Ypsilon and the Smart Fortwo. As regards SUVs, however, the Toyota Rav4 is highly appreciated by thieves, followed by the Toyota C-HR, the Fiat 500X, the Jeep Renegade and finally the Peugeot 3008.

Most car thefts occur thanks to tools high technology like the jammer, a frequency jammer that prevents those nearby from locking the car with their remote control. If you have one of these models, therefore, keep your eyes open.
