“Urban planning novel. Stories from the cities of the world” is the title of Maurizio Carta’s book which will be presented in Palermo on Wednesday 26 June, at 6pm, under the porticoes of via Mariano Stabile. The work published by Sellerio is an essay on the theme of urban regeneration and a guide for attentive and curious travellers. But above all, as the title itself states, in addition to being a map and a breviary, it is an “urbanistic” novel to understand the cities of the world and imagine possible futures in consideration of the transformations produced by city-organisms.

Maurizio Carta, urban planner, architect, Unipa full professor and councilor for urban planning and the historic center of the Municipality of Palermo, tells forty-two city stories, including the inevitable London, Moscow, Paris, Barcelona, New York and Beijing and others less obvious such as Paducah, Hangzhou, Brest, Aalborg, Tirana, Favara. “The cities I describe – explains the author – have all undergone a journey of rebirth, of evolution, of escape from the eternal present to reach a new future which is today their present”. The journalist Marianna La Barbera will dialogue with the author.
