Arezzo, 25 June 2024 – It’s called «Animals save us» is the title of the book by the Arezzo veterinarian Alberto Brandi with the preface by Andrea Scanzi and Jovanotti which will be presented in Arezzo on Saturday 29 June at 6pm at the Casa dell’Energia in via Leoni. It all started when Brandi caught Covid, in the hospital he realized that animals were fundamental to him and he remembered all those who saved his life. Moderated by Letizia Cini, in the presence of the author and curator Elena Giogli. At the end, copy signing and vegetarian aperitif, open to the public while seats last. During a hospital stay in which he finds himself struggling between life and death, the vet clings to the memory of his many four-legged friends and their love, finding the strength to resist.
Brandi’s true story became a media sensation during her hospitalization for Covid thanks to the wave of affection received from her “logbook” shared on social media. In the book dogs, cats, horses, badgers, fawns, alpacas, chinchillas, but also pigeons and fish with anecdotes about famous people such as Jovanotti and Scanzi, long-time friends and clients. Also on Brandi’s case is an article by Selvaggia Lucarelli for «Il Fatto Quotidiano» present in the appendix.
Dr. Brandi, how do animals save us? «It is scientifically proven that the presence of an animal is good for health, improves blood pressure and mood, fundamental for pet therapy, and helps us overcome this world that has become barren of emotions. At the presentation Vincenzo Venuto host of Melverde on Rete 4 and Letizia Cini, then the associations Oipa, Leida, Scudo di Pan, to politically raise the problem of abandonments. Another aspect to reflect on is that of difficult dogs, which in my opinion need an owner with experience, we will talk about it with Venuto”.
