Etnabook – Catania International Book and Culture Festival, has reached its sixth edition, the appointment as always is for the end of summer from 18 to 22 September and will have as its headquarters the Palace of Culture of Catania, as well as many other events related to books that will involve the Etna municipalities. As usual, this year too a theme has been chosen which will be the common thread of the five days of the festival and is Islands. Each island appears complete in itself, yet only by connecting to the others is it able to realize its totality. The value that we wanted to give to the theme of Islands it is precisely that of connection and belonging. The Islands of Etnabook are imaginative places of freedom, creativity and peace. Where each individual, moved by the wind of culture, becomes a fundamental part of a single large world.

Etnabook 2024, the news of the Catania Book Festival

The festival formula remains the same. Five days full of presentations, laboratories, workshops, special awards and meetings, in a packed calendar that involves the entire city of Etna and several municipalities in the hinterland. A welcome novelty of this sixth edition is the collaboration with Dr Gaetano Sanfilippo, publisher of two prestigious journalistic realities, Edonè and FocuSicilia. “I am pleased to collaborate with Etnabook, which is certainly a virtuous reality in the cultural panorama of Catania and beyond” states Sanfilippo. “It is precisely the promotion of culture and investment in it that is our guiding star, since we consider them necessary conditions for the growth of the entire territory and the country system. It therefore seemed natural to me to support a valid project which over the years has demonstrated its ability to grow and improve.”

Three sections for the literary prize of the event

Etnabook embraces the world of art in all its forms, the central heart of the festival remains Literary Award Etnabook – Culture under the volcano“, divided into three sections: poetry, narrative/essay And “A book on a page”. There are many entries received from all over Italy and abroad which will be selected and evaluated by three separate juries per section, made up of personalities from the world of publishing, culture and journalism. President Cirino Cristaldi together with the vice president Mirko Giaconeto the president of the Scientific Committee Massimo Fazio and members of the board of directors Flavio Pagano, Amanda Succi, Riccardo Tomasello And Tania Spitaleri have completed the busy calendar of the five days of the Festival which includes important guests from Italian literature and beyond. Also in this edition there will be a section of Etnabook dedicated to the little ones: EtnaKids with meetings and workshops dedicated to young readers.

Furthermore, the presentations of Waiting for Etnabook around the Etna area. Among the various meetings there will be a preview August 23 in Sant’Agata Li Battiatiof the writer’s new novel Barbara Bellomo. Etnabook – International Book and Culture Festival is organized bycultural association NO_NAME chaired by Cirino Cristaldi, with the co-organization of the City of Catania, the festival is part of the program of events Catania SummerFest 2024. The event is sponsored by the University of Catania, the Municipalities of Gravina di Catania and Pedara.
