The case of Paolo Vaj, the 57-year-old of Milanese origin murdered in the night between 18 and 19 July 2019 by the 58-year-old Patrizia Armellin and the 30-year-old Angelica Cormaci inside the house in via Cal dei Romani in Vittorio Veneto, is back in the news of himself. In fact, almost 5 years after that murder, a book written by Vaj’s wife, Roberta Bencini, the woman from whom the victim separated but never legally to go and live with Armellin, is coming out these days.

«The “Paolo’s Version” – explains Bencini – is a book that helped me process the mourning and put a point to the story, allowing me to start over with a new life. The death of my husband and above all the trial were a very sad experience not only for the loss suffered but also for the tones used by the defense against me and the false stories about Paolo’s personality that I had to read.”

«The book was intended for the eyes of relatives and friends – concludes the woman – but by chance it was also read by the owner of a small publishing house who proposed that I publish it. I agreed so everyone will finally be able to read “the story” from my point of view too.” The “Paolo’s Version”, published by Edizioni Helicon, can be purchased directly on the publishing house’s website, in bookstores and from the end of the month on Amazon.

Meanwhile, on July 10, the trial of the two murderers will return to the Court of Appeal of Venice. The Court of Cassation, in the hearing last January, in fact excluded the aggravating circumstance of premeditation. The judges of second instance, who initially confirmed the sentences of 24 years for Patrizia Armellin and 16 years for Angelica Cormaci, will be asked, once the reasons for the annulment with postponement have been accepted, to re-determine the sentence.
