The Rubbettino Business Museum inaugurated, a look at books and printing houses

The “Business Museum” dedicated to books and typography was inaugurated at the Rubbettino publishing house, at the conclusion of the “Festival of work in internal areas”

Before the ribbon cutting ceremony, a debate opened by the bishop of Lamezia Terme, Monsignor Serafino Parisi who stated that the book is always “an invitation to action” and “a foundation on which to build the future”. Following were the President of the Italian Publishers Association, Innocenzo Cipolletta; the Vice President of the Italian Association for Industrial Archaeological Heritage, Manuel Fernando Ramello, the owners of the company of the same name, Marco and Florindo Rubbettino. The company museum offers an exhibition that recounts the printing techniques from the invention of movable type to digital and, at the same time, testifies to the history of the Rubbettino company whose operational strategy has always been in step with the times, always based on technological innovation.

The Museum is a body detached from the industrial plant where memory and experimentation coexist. A sort of bridge between entrepreneurial culture and knowledge to promote the historical and cultural value of the company and its positive impact on the territory. In a covered space of approximately 1000 m2, a structured, guided and immersive exhibition itinerary that allows you to explore the history of the book, of the printing processes and typographic techniques, of paper and of the materials supporting typography. This is not a static itinerary, in fact visitors are offered multimedia content, creative workshops and exhibitions. A coworking space, a FabLab and an arena for meetings make it possible to welcome the experiments of innovators in communication, design and digital craftsmanship.

The Museum is part of the “Carta” project with which Rubbettino continues to realize that combination of business and culture on which his entrepreneurial vision is based. “Carta” is mainly composed of the Business Museum and the Contemporary Art Park. On a green area of 12,500 square metres, the Contemporary Art Park which extends next to the Museum is a place where corporate culture dialogues with contemporary art through the exhibition of permanent works by international artists, hosted in residence in Soveria Mannelli. Marco Rubbettino, during the inauguration evening, wanted to underline how the Business Museum is «the culmination of a dream that began in 1972, the realization of the project of a pragmatic visionary like Rosario Rubbettino, founder of the company».
