Also this year the Classense Library project “A beach that reads is a beautiful story” returns to the Ravenna shores. The initiative, born from the belief that reading is a fundamental value for the intellectual and social growth of a community, aims to promote reading by taking it out of institutional contexts and into places of leisure and relaxation. From 18 June, customers of a series of beach establishments in Punta Marina, Marina di Ravenna and Marina Romea will have the opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of reading thanks to the convenience of having books within “umbrella reach”.

Each beach establishment that joins the initiative will receive a selection of fifty titles, for a total of approximately 500 volumes, chosen by the librarians of Classense. The selection, made with attention to the different tastes of readers, will be available without the need for a membership card and without a return deadline, thus bringing the book even closer to the reader. Participation in the project is free for beach establishments and the loan service will be active until mid-September.

The initiative is part of the programming envisaged by the Intermunicipal Reading Pact signed by the Municipality of Ravenna, which recognizes reading as a fundamental social value, to be supported through coordinated and joint action by public and private entities present in the area.
