MOUNTAINS. The 50th title of the memorial project promoted by the Library of Sardinia “Telling” will be presented Saturday 25 May at 6pmat the Casa del Miele.

The volume is titled “Telling Monti” and was edited by Dove Isoniwith the collaboration of Pierina Chessa And Francesca Meloni, for the Documenta Editorial. The historian will present it Giuseppe Melonialso author of the preface to the work, and the archaeologist Paola Mancinimoderated by Gianni Mutzu.

The book collects around sixty testimonies from over thirty oral informants for a large album of memories of life in Monti in the first fifty years of the twentieth century in which the topics covered are various, from war to work, from weddings to parties, from natural remedies to activities playful.

“This book – explain the curators – aims to bring to mind pages of history otherwise destined for oblivion, with the hope that our young people can consciously develop a sense of belonging to the territory and to our tradition”. The volume, enriched by a period photographic repertoire, is embellished with the artists’ original illustrations Marta Sanna And Anna Spanu.

“Telling” contains over 5000 oral testimonies on the first fifty years of the twentieth century collected by 1500 elderly informants. The memorial project promoted by the Library of Sardinia
crowns the milestone of 50 editorial releases in 17 years of activity.
