EMPOLI – A weekend not to be missed marked by books, authors, meetings, listening, imagination, workshops and so on and so forth. In fact, the 2024 edition of Leggenda Festival continues in the heart of Empoli, a reading and listening festival for boys and girls, boys and girls, families and adults, organized by the Municipality of Empoli. It opened its doors on Thursday 16 May 2024 and will continue until Sunday 19 May 2024: many events are fully booked, but there are free entry initiatives without reservations and events with places still available. Below, here are some that will take place in the last days of this rich and lively seventh edition.

Looking at today, Friday 17 May 2024, among the scheduled initiatives we highlight: the Legendary Boys who at 5pm, in the Sala Maggiore of the Renato Fucini Municipal Library, will interview the author Paola Peretti starting from her book “The distance between me and the cherry tree”, published by Giunti. At 7pm, there will be space for Teresa Porcella who, in the Cenacle of the Augustinians, will perform a reading based on her book “Calviniana. In one way or another.” At 9.30pm, at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the second appointment of this edition of Virus Libro, an exhibition curated by Libreria Rinascita, with Emanuele Aldrovandi, starting from his book “Our big nothing”, published by Einaudi.

For the day of Saturday 18 May 2024, to highlight at 10.30 the fantasy writing workshop “Creators of magic” with the author Christian Antonini. At 11am, in the Cenacle of the Augustinians, reading in LIS of “The journey of Bobo and Campi, conducted by Carlo di Biase in collaboration with the Mason Perkins Deafness Fund onlus. At 4.00 pm and 5.30 pm, there will be space for the workshop meeting “Il Coccomiao” with Lucia Mostardini. At 4.30pm, the Nuovidove bookshop will offer a workshop meeting with Loris De Marco, illustrator and author of the series “La banda del balloon”, published by Tunuè. At Palazzo delle Esposizioni, from 10am to 12.30pm and from 3.30pm to 7.30pm, there will be space for the interactive performance “Pedal mobile home” created by the theater company Principio Attivo Teatro with the support of Giallo Mare Minimal Teatro.

Sunday May 19, 2024, the last legendary day, at 11am worth mentioning Simone Frasca, in the Coop Members’ Space of the Shopping Centre, who will involve children in a workshop based on his book “Zia Natale” published by Il battello a Vapore. At 11.30, the La San Paolo Libri & People bookshop will offer a workshop with the illustrator Veronica Pia, starting from her book “Tutto Cambia, Tutto Rimane” published by Oso Melero. Don’t miss two special events in the afternoon: at 4pm, in the setting of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the Municipal Council of Children and Girls, coordinated by the facilitator Anna Sarfatti, will interview the journalist and writer Chiara Lico starting from her book “The ring” , published by Giunti and inspired by the true story of the boxing champion Sirine Charaabi, who will participate in the match in live streaming. Afterwards, at 5.30 pm, for the Battiti Leggendari exhibition, which combines the Legend festival with Battiti, the project of the Municipality of Empoli which promotes the culture of legality, the author Valeria De Cubellis will present her book “Free by constitution. The 21 women who made Italy”.

RESERVATIONS – The booking procedure has remained unchanged compared to recent years. It is possible to book events at the limited-numbered festival through the use of the Eventbrite platform, connected directly to the Leggenda website. A valid email address is required, to which the booking confirmation will arrive. These are the steps to follow for bookings: From the website www.leggendafestival.it/programma it is possible to view all the events; Choose the event you want to participate in; If the event is by reservation, there will be a ‘Book event’ button which will take you directly to the Evenbrite platform; on the Eventbrite platform you will be asked to fill in the form with the contact details and participant data. For events dedicated to children, the ticket is in the child’s name and will also allow entry to an accompanying adult. In the two sections, Contact Information and Ticket, therefore, if the event is for adults, all the information is in the name of the adult, if the event is for children, contact information is that of the adult who is booking, while the tickets are named for the child. An email address is required, because the ticket will arrive at the address indicated. With the same email it is possible to book up to three entrance tickets per event. Once the booking process is complete, you will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite. There is no need to print the confirmation of registration or the tickets that will arrive via email: to enter the events it will be sufficient to communicate the participant’s name and surname to the staff in the room.
