His life was cut short by a car accident that occurred while the boy was tackling a nocturnal randonneeone of those rides that often take place in company, without competitive ambitions but for the pleasure of discovering the world on board a bicycle.

At that dramatic event the cover is also redonecreated like other illustrations by Voltolin’s grandchildren: a sign of family continuity which goes hand in hand with the delicate words inserted into the pages of the book.

«… You dear nephew, a young man full of life and dreams, were pedaling on your bicycle, perhaps immersed in your thoughts. The driver of the car, unfortunately, could not see the bicycle in the dark of the night. It was an accident, a tragic accident that took an angel from us too soon. And the stars… JUST continued to watch, silent and distant, as our world changed forever.”
