new free channels for sports lovers

Thanks to HbbTV technology, available only on Digital Terrestrial, tennis and padel lovers will be able to watch many more matches live on SuperTennis TV

Good news for lovers of sport, especially for those who go beyond football and also follow the so-called minor sports which, by now, are not so minor at all. As the tenniswhich Italians now love again thanks to the exploits of Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini, Fabio Fognini and other world-class athletes.

The news is that they are available two new free TV channelsbut only on DTT: these are the new channels HbbTV launched by SuperTennisTV on the occasion of the Sardinia Open, a tournament that coincides with the Challenger 175 in Aix-en-Provence. As if that wasn’t enough, the Sevilla Premier Padel P2 is also being played these days. What better opportunity, then, to exploit technology to multiply the offer for spectators?

SuperTennis HbbTV

SuperTennisTV is the official channel of Italian Tennis Federation (FIT)active since 2008, and broadcasts in HD be on Digital Terrestrial (channel 64) and on Sky (channel 224). Plus, it also streams on its website, but only for registered users.

But two new channels just launched are reserved for users who watch SuperTennis on Digital Terrestrialbecause they exploit technology HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV)that is, the technology that allows you to view on a Smart TV connected to the Internet one or more additional channels streamed by a broadcaster that broadcasts digitally.

In this specific case, the first of the two new HbbTV channels will broadcast the matches of Sardinia Open and those of Challenger 175 from Aix-en-Provencewhile the second channel will broadcast the matches of the Spanish tournament padel.

This is not the first time that SuperTennis has used HbbTV technology for increase the offer of matches broadcast: it had already done so last year with the US Open, in December and August, but also in May with the Bonfiglio Trophy.

How to watch new channels for free

The HbbTV broadcast system is used by SuperTennis TV to broadcast additional content, not to add channels that remain over time. This means that the two channels are activated, and are available, are when the games are in progress.

In fact, shortly before the start of a match that will be broadcast on HbbTV, the viewer of the channel 64 of Digital Terrestrial sees the warning on the screen and can press the Ok button on the remote control to activate switch to the additional channel. You can then return to normal channel 64 by pressing the back button.

For everything to work, however, the TV must be correctly connected to Internet and that he receives a good signal from the router, and that the connection provided by the Internet Provider is fast and stable. Otherwise it will not be possible to activate the HbbTV channels, or the channel will be seen at low quality or, even worse, jerky.
