The commitment of the Carabinieri of Ragusa in combating intra-family violence there is no stopping, with recent significant interventions that highlight the seriousness and persistence of this phenomenon in the area.
Late on Thursday evening, a crucial intervention took place in Modica, where a 56-year-old man, already known to the police, was arrested for stalking his ex-partner.
The situation degenerated when the man, in a state of psychophysical alteration, physically attacked his ex-partner. The prompt reaction of the victim, who called 112, allowed the military to intervene promptly. The attacker was contained not without difficulty and was subsequently incarcerated in Ragusa, following the directives of the Judicial Authority.
Another episode of violence was reported on the afternoon of the 9th in the city of Acate, where a domestic dispute escalated into physical aggression. An Albanian citizen attacked his partner with kicks and punches for trivial reasons. The woman, rescued and transported to the “Guzzardi” hospital in Vittoria, was discharged with a prognosis of 30 days. The person responsible was referred to the Judicial Authority for mistreatment in the family.
On the 10th of the current month, in Vittoria, a further precautionary measure was carried out against a man already known for episodes of violence against his ex-partner, dating back to November 2023.
Despite an initial approach ban, supported by an electronic bracelet, the measure proved inapplicable due to the proximity of the homes. Consequently, the Judicial Authority opted for house arrest in a home adequately distant from the victim.
These episodes highlight the importance of a proactive and specialized approach in recognizing and intervening in situations of intra-family violence. The phenomenon, of national dimensions, requires a constant and widespread presence in the territory, with qualified personnel to manage these delicate and often dangerous situations.
