VIAREGGIO. Attacked and robbed while going to the seaside, in Darsena. It happened in the early afternoon yesterday around 3pm, along Viale Europa. Three minors from Pisa, who had decided to spend a few hours at the seaside, were attacked by about ten peers from Viareggio, in front of the “Rossella” and “Vittoria” bathing establishments. The reason for the attack is currently unknown, but it appears that there is no one in particular. From what emerged, the group of attackers were on board a bus that took them to Viale Europa. Here the boys started to bother the three minors who were walking towards the sea. Until they surrounded them and then started hitting them.

A man who had left work and was going to the beach with his wife and a small child found himself in the middle of the chaos. «The others all attacked the three boys from Pisa together, hitting them with punches and kicks», is the story: «The attacked ones suffered bruises, fortunately not serious, even if they had to resort to the care of the doctors in the emergency room of the ‘Versilia hospital’. The injured, in fact, were transported to hospital with a Green Cross ambulance, code yellow.

From the Vittoria bathroom, hearing the chaos coming from Viale Europa, they rushed to make sure what was happening. And seeing the young Pisans who needed help, they brought them into the factory. To give them ice to put on their nose and face and reassure them. In the meantime, emergency services were alerted.

«They were not young people from our bathing establishment», they tell the “Vittoria”, «but we gave them the support they needed at that moment».

Municipal police and two carabinieri cars with sirens intervened on the scene. But by then there was no longer any trace of the attackers. Although from the descriptions and testimonies provided it would seem that they were already known young people. On a pole at the entrance to the Rossella bathroom car park there is a camera that could be useful in providing images to identify the perpetrators of the attack. The police listened to the versions of the attacked boys who recounted the bad misadventure in which they were personally protagonists and who informed their parents. A car from the Port Authority then arrived to examine what had happened.

Some customers of the beach establishments who were going to the seaside yesterday afternoon became alarmed when they saw the ambulance and the police cars stopped. Once they became aware of what happened, they expressed disappointment and concern for the recurrence of increasingly frequent youth violence in the city. «At this point the problem cannot be underestimated», is the voice of a mother who has a young son: «Don’t feel comfortable sending him to the seaside alone, it seems to me that it’s a bit much. It is necessary to intervene in time, before it ends badly, because then we cannot know what reactions there may be to all these episodes of youth violence.”

While the Green Cross ambulance was moving away from Viale Europa to take the three young people to hospital – who will file a regular complaint – the mother of one of them arrived, worriedly following the ambulance in her car headed for Versilia.
