The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, said he had given up on launching his new book at the 48th Buenos Aires International Book Fair because he felt “hostility” from the organizers and to avoid an attempt to “sabotage” his presentation.

The launch of the ultra-liberal leader’s new book, entitled ‘Capitalism, socialism and the neoclassical trap’, was scheduled for May 12, in front of the La Rural conference center, where one of the country’s main cultural fairs has been held for a week.

“We will not present it at the Book Fair because my sister is carrying out this negotiation and there is a level of hostility towards me and towards our team that leads us to suspect an attempt to sabotage the presentation made, ‘Kirchnerist’ style ‘, in a violent way,” Milei said on a radio program.

The head of state defined the opening ceremony of the Fair as “violent”, which was harshly criticized, and argued that it was necessary to “take some precautions” to avoid exposing oneself to a “siege”.
