Saturday 20 April at 4pm the Biblical Festival arrives in the church of Santa Caterina da Genova, where the life and works of the Genoese saint Caterina Fieschi Adorno will be told, in particular declining her experience of service to the poor, born from the “vision” of God and from adhering to the his love.

Don Gianfranco CalabreseEpiscopal Vicar for the proclamation of the Gospel and for missionary spirit will dialogue with Monsignor Antonino RaspantiBishop of Acireale and Vice President of the CEI, author of the book “Burned by love – The life and works of Saint Catherine of Genoa”; moderated by Francesca Di Palma, Il Cittadino journalist. At the end, guided tour of the church by prof. Giacomo Montanariart historian, Coordinator of the permanent table on culture of the Municipality of Genoa.

“Caterina is linked to the Franciscan tradition of San Bonaventure and Jacopone da Todi, giving it a decidedly innovative form in terms of vocabulary and uniqueness of experience. In the history of Western spirituality it appears as a flower of rare beauty whose perfume, after more than five centuries, remains unchanged”, says Monsignor Raspanti presenting his work, whose text offers the strong testimony of the life of the Genoese saint who lived between the end of the 1400s and the first decade of the 1500s, through the translation of his writings into everyday language.

“The collection of the works of Saint Catherine of Genoa, which we propose again to those contemporary readers who are attentive to the study of spirituality, constitutes an authentic literary and mystical treasure, scandalously set aside by many scholars for many years and now to be relocated in the vast hagiographic panorama of the literary history of Italian religiosity”, writes Father Roberto Tarquini in the introduction.
