Cherthe musical diva now 77 years oldhas been immortalized several times next to men much younger than her, until her now (it seems) stable relationship with Alexander Edwards, 40 years her junior. The couple made their relationship public in November 2022. In an interview with Jennifer Hudson on “The Jennifer Hudson Show”, the singer spoke about her career and her romantic choices, also touching on one of the issues that most intrigued of his fans: «Why does he date younger people?».
The revelation
“The reason why I date young men – Cher confessed – is that men my age or older than me, even if they are all dead now, were always terrified of me.” The younger men are the “only ones” who are not afraid of her because “they were raised by women like me.”
This isn’t the first time she’s addressed the issue of the age gap between her and Alexander Edwards. In October 2023, she told Extra that their age difference is especially noticeable when he doesn’t understand the pop culture references she makes. “Sometimes I tell him things but he has no idea who the people I’m talking about are,” Cher revealed. «He looks at me and says: “I wasn’t born yet”,» she confessed with some bitterness.
