To prevent and repress dangerous conduct and various irregularities, the Traffic Police, over the past long holiday period, has constantly monitored motorways and major communication routes in the province, increasing the number of patrols and judicial police services.
The device implemented was considerable: 280 crews who, operating in full synergy with the teams of the managing bodies of the sections involved, carried out checks on 700 vehicles and 778 people, ascertaining and contesting 872 infringements of the Highway Code.
The drivers who tested positive for the breathalyzer were 9 with immediate withdrawal of their driving license and 2 who tested positive for drug use.
There were 497 complaints for speeding, 53 for not wearing seat belts, while 14 drivers were caught using their cell phones while driving.
For these and other infractions, traffic officers withdrew 12 driving licenses, deducted 1540 points and seized 16 vehicles for administrative violations.
47 motorists who had broken down or were in difficulty along the motorway section were rescued.
During the checks, 5 people at liberty were reported for various crimes.
