On Saturday 23 March the Aprica Library hosted a training meeting with doctor Monica Ducoli with the suggestive title “the healing power of the word”. The afternoon of study, dedicated to the relationship between children and books, concluded a three-day event organized by library volunteers to welcome the arrival of spring. The three events constituted a stage of the “A sPasso nei libri” exhibition, which since December has offered reading meetings in the library and workshops: for the month of March the activities were dedicated in particular to the world of nature; Thursday 21 March children aged three to six were entertained by illustrated stories about the awakening of animals after the winter cold; on Friday 22nd it was the turn of the children aged six to eight, who instead listened to the stories of seeds, flowers and sprouts: at the end of the readings, the children and volunteers dedicated themselves to creative and ecological work and shared a snack .

Saturday 23

Saturday 23rd, however, was an event aimed at adults: parents, grandparents, uncles called to lead children into the magical world of reading. Thanks to the patronage of the IC of Teglio, granted by the director Angelo Grassi, the meeting was recognized as having an educational value which attracted many teachers from nursery and primary schools. To those present, in the natural habitat of the library, among the books, Ducoli proposed an exciting journey into reading, ranging between different genres such as fiction, fairy tales and fables, poems, illustrated books, popular books, photographic books, game books and silent books book: works which, created for children’s literature, actually fascinate every reader and propose themes dear to those who frequent books, but also controversial for those who educate reading. How to choose a book, how to propose it and how to read it with children? Ducoli’s answers, condensed into precise indications and practical advice, aimed to underline how reading emphasizes the register of the word, which materializes in the actions of saying, narrating, listening, sharing.
