Performing Science. The long history of the book
Descriptive text here

“The long history of the book” is part of the third mission project and public engagement of the University of Padua Performing Science, declined between science and art: in fact, it proposes a program of 5 talks in double repetition for talk about university research, from artificial intelligence to biology, from history to medicine, accompanied by theatrical texts composed for the occasion by the young writer and blogger Nicolò Targhetta. A TSV – National Theater production at the Teatro delle Maddalene.

Between dissemination, performance and interaction with the public, each evening begins with a short scientific talk, continues with questions and curiosities from the public, and ends with the mise en space of an unpublished theatrical short, which stages, imagines and transfigures the contents of the talk from an artistic and performative point of view.

The appointments of 27 and 28 March are enriched with a special guest: Lodo Guenzithe frontman singer of The social state and actor, is on stage for the two evenings dedicated to The long history of the book.

In a world where communication and the organization of information are central, Nicoletta Giovèprofessor of the Department of Historical, Geographical and Antiquity Sciences of the University of Padua, introduces us to the history of the knowledge transmission tool par excellence: the book. From the papyrus roll to the medieval parchment codex, from the printed paper book up to the e-book, which is reflected in the surreal text of Nicolò Targhettawhich gives voice to the different forms of contemporary books, from bestsellers to graphic novels, to show us how books are still a reflection of our way of thinking and being in relationships today.
