EU sanctions on Moscow: the details

As part of the fourteenth package of sanctions against Russia for the war in Ukraine, the EU Council has decided to impose restrictive measures on another 69 persons and 47 entities held responsible for actions that compromise or threaten territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, bringing the total number of sanctioned individuals to over 2,200.

The new lists include businessmen, propagandists and public figures, members of the Army and judiciary, persons responsible for the deportation of Ukrainian children, as well as members of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB), involved in religious persecution in Crimea illegally annexed, and representatives of the Russian government. Among the companies, some are actively involved in evading EU sanctions through financial transactions and delivery of prohibited goods. There is also a company that operates the Vostochny port, which was used to ship weapons and ammunition from North Korea to Russia. The list also includes several Russian military and defense industry companies that provide dual-use technologies used on the battlefield and companies that transport weapons and military personnel to the war zone.

Furthermore, the EU designated the Volga Dnepr Group and its subsidiaries for their role in providing services to the Russian military-industrial complex and its shareholders. Also on the list are Sovcomflot, Russia’s largest shipping company specializing in the transportation of liquefied gas, crude oil and petroleum products, along with its CEO and other leading companies in the energy sector.

The EU has sanctioned the Artek International Children’s Center, which organizes camps for children from Ukraine, including in illegally occupied territories, the Kadyrov Foundation which carries out re-education programs for Ukrainian children and adolescents, and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union , which is active in the deportation of Ukrainian children from illegally occupied territories. Some of their most prominent representatives were also blacklisted. The individuals and companies designated today are subject to an asset freeze and EU citizens and businesses are prohibited from making funds available to them. Natural persons are also subject to a travel ban, which prevents them from entering or transiting EU territories.
