A 42-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and injury after she attempted to drown a 3-year-old Palestinian girl in an apartment complex swimming pool in Euless, Texas. The local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations called on state and federal authorities to investigate the incident “as a hate crime.”

The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said that the little girl’s family is Muslim And Palestinian and called on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident “as hate crime and to take all the precautions to keep the family and the Muslim community safe.”
According to what has been reconstructed, the event occurred last year May 19th. The woman, identified by police officers as the 42-year-old Elizabeth Wolfallegedly approached a Palestinian woman, mother of two children, asking her if they were hers and where she came from.

Immediately afterwards, the 42-year-old allegedly tried to grab one of the woman’s two children, a 6-year-old boy, but the latter struggled and freed himself from her grasp. At that point Wolf would have headed towards her other daughter, a 3-year-old girl, and would then have attempted to drown her under water.
The little girl was saved only thanks to her mother’s prompt reaction, before the police arrived, called by some witnesses who had spoken of an argument between two women. Officers stopped Wolf as she tried to leave, the woman was arrested for public drunkenness.
“We are American citizens, originally from Palestine, and I don’t know where to go to feel safe with my children,” the woman declared. “My country is facing a war and we are facing that hatred here. My daughter is traumatized. Every time I open the door of the apartment she runs away and hides telling me that she is afraid that the lady will come and immerse her head in the water again.”
The Euless Police Department confirmed to the CNN that Wolf got out of prison by paying a bail. Salman Bhojani, a member of the Texas House of Representatives, said he was “shocked And upset. “Hate has no place in Euless, District 92, or anywhere in our great state.”
