This is the warning launched in Moscow by the North Atlantic Council in a crucial phase of the war in Ukraine and just over a month before the European elections. “NATO allies express their deep concern about Russia’s hybrid actions which constitute a threat to security” and make it known that they are “ready to deter and defend against hybrid actions or attacks”, reads a note from the Council regarding “recent malign activities on allied territory.” NATO’s accusations that Russia has launched hybrid attacks are “disinformation”. This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Moscow Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“NATO and the leadership of individual member states are doing what they do best: disinformation, raising the level of anti-Russian hysteria to justify the unprecedented scale of the militarization of Europe,” Zakharova said. According to Moscow, it was NATO that “unleashed a hybrid war against Russia in all operational environments and in all geographical directions”. An attack that is “not just a hybrid one – continues the spokeswoman for the Moscow Defense Ministry – in the conflict around Ukraine, NATO members are actively involved in a real military confrontation with our country.
