Four people have been injured after several British Army horses escaped and went on an out-of-control race in central London. The injuries apparently occurred in at least three different places: in Buckingham Palace Road, Belgrave Square and at the intersection of Chancery Lane and Fleet Street.
However, some points remain to be clarified regarding the dynamics, starting from the number of animals in the Royal Household Cavalry, the regiment that parades in the parades of the British royal house. According to the BBC, there were at least five horses involved in what happened, while four soldiers were unhorsed (one was managing two horses).

According to initial reconstructions, the horses ran amok during “a routine exercise” near Buckingham Palace. For reasons yet to be clarified, some of them would have thrown their jockeys and would have launched a full-speed escape through the streets of central London.

“I saw a soldier fall into the street after his horse collided with a car. One of my colleagues called the police. The man hit the asphalt violently, screaming in pain. You could see blood all over the parked car – says Bashir Aden, 48 years old, a construction worker -. The horses travel this road every day, but today they seemed stressed or panicked. I saw the horse run away after hitting a bus. People were screaming and running everywhere.”

In their uncontrolled race through the traffic in the early hours of the morning, one of the horses crashed into one of the red double-decker buses used to transport tourists, shattering the front window. Other accidents and damages were recorded with private vehicles and taxis. In some images released on social media, two horses, one black and one white, are seen running down the street saddled but without riders. The white one has a part of his body dirty with what appears to be blood, probably caused by the impact with some vehicle.
The army confirmed that it had recovered all the escaped horses and some of them, at least two, also had to undergo medical treatment.
