«This is an issue that concerns not only the security of our country, but also of the region and the international community. It is absolutely unacceptable,” said Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Your country’s defense forces, together with their counterparts in South Korea and the United States, are analyzing data on Pyongyang’s latest missile test. Shortly before 7am on April 2, North Korea launched a medium-range missile, with a range of at least 5,500 kilometres, towards the East. It sank into the Sea of Japan after a travel of around 600 kilometres.

The South Korean Defense General Staff “detected, at 6:53 am, what is believed to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile launched from the Pyongyang area towards the East Sea.” And, in a note to the press, he added: “We have strengthened surveillance and are closely sharing relevant information with the United States and Japan.” It is the third test of this type that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has carried out since the beginning of the year. Seoul raised the possibility that the missile used in the launch was armed with a hypersonic warhead. Meanwhile, the Japanese Coast Guard has instructed ships transiting its waters to report to the authorities any remains of the missile that fell into the sea, without approaching it.
