Announcements about new additions to the cast for the second season of One Piecethe live-action series based on the Japanese manga of the same name written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. The last ones concern Callum Kerr (Monarch), Julia Rehwald (Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures), Rob Colletti (The Many Saints of New Jersey) e Ty Keough (Black Sails), cast as Smoker, Tashigi, Wapol, and Dalton respectively.
One Piece 2: Who are Smoker, Tashigi, Wapol and Dalton?
The second season will continue the journey of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew along the Grand Line in search of the legendary treasure One Piece. Presumably adapting the second story arc of Oda’s famous manga, we know that in the next episodes we will hear about an island of giants, the search for a doctor to join the crew, and the fight against a certain criminal.
As you may recall, Smoker was introduced in the final minutes of the inaugural season finale as a teaser for what’s to come in season two. Although his face had not been shown, important clues such as his naval uniform and the two cigars he was smoking at the same time had removed any doubt about his identity. A Navy vice admiral, Smoker sees all pirates as dangerous criminals who must be apprehended at any cost. He is Tashigi’s superior, a Navy vessel captain, careless but with a strong sense of justice.
Wapol is the ruler of Black Drum, the kingdom based on economic speculation that he governs in an authoritarian and evil way together with his wife. A corpulent man, he is obsessed with his position and wants no one to question his authority, including Luffy and his men. Dalton (also known in Italy as Dorton) is instead the king of the kingdom of Sakura, on the winter island of Drum, described as an imposing man and a brave warrior.
These castings follow those of David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer), Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior), Camrus Johnson (Batwoman) e Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves) for the roles of Mr. 3, Miss Valentine, Mr. 5 and Mr. 9, members of the criminal organization Baroque Works, while Clive Russell (Game of thrones), Werner Coetzer (Deep Waters) e Brendan Murray (I mystery in Murdoch) will be Crocus, Dorry and Brogy respectively.
