The castings confirm the arrival of Baroque Works in the second season of the live-action series.
Baroque Works agents are arriving in one piecethe live-action series from Netflix based on the Japanese manga of the same name written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. The streaming service announced that David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer), Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior), Camrus Johnson (Batwoman) And Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves) will play four key members of the criminal organization – namely Mr. 3, Miss Valentine, Mr. 5 and Mr. 9 – in the second season.
One Piece: What we know about season 2
The first season told the origins of Monkey D. Luffy, a young adventurer with the dream of becoming the Pirate King in search of the legendary treasure called One Piece. Together with a group of improvised pirates, Luffy sets out to reach the Grand Line, along which the treasure is said to be hidden. Most of the stories told by Oda in the first 100 chapters of the manga were part of theEast Sea Bow. The second season will bring to the screens the stories of the next narrative arc, 116 chapters long and known as theArch of Alabasta.
Alabasta is the kingdom that the Baroque Works, a criminal organization set up by a warlord named Crocodile (also known as Mr. 0), wants to take over because the ancestral weapon Pluton is found here, with which he plans to subjugate the entire world. This is the same organization that tried to recruit Zoro at the beginning of the series, which Luffy and his crew try to stop when they come across Vivi, an exiled princess from Alabasta.
Mr. 3, Miss Valentine, Mr. 5 and Mr. 9 are four of the many agents acting under Mr. 0 and his deputy Miss All Sunday, and the first Baroque Works confirmed in the live-action adaptation. These are also the first new additions to the cast of the second season, while it is not yet clear whether the Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis she will realize her dream of taking on the role of Dr. Kureha, as is widely rumored.
